Description

A Conversation with President Chinchilla

Presented by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, this highly anticipated program will feature Laura Chinchilla, former President of Costa Rica and the first woman elected to lead the nation (2010–2014).

President Chinchilla is an internationally respected political scientist with a master’s degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University. Over the course of her career, she has served as Minister of Public Security, Congresswoman, Minister of Justice, and Vice President of Costa Rica. Her presidency was marked by significant reforms addressing public security and justice, digital and open government, women’s rights, early childhood protection, and environmental sustainability,  particularly marine biodiversity preservation, for which she earned international recognition.

Following her presidency, Mrs. Chinchilla has served as a consultant to leading global institutions including the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and USAID. She currently serves as President of the World Leadership Alliance – Club de Madrid and sits on the boards of the International Olympic Committee, the Inter-American Dialogue, the Concordia Summit, and the Euro-America Foundation. She has chaired the Kofi Annan Commission on Elections and Democracy in the Digital Age and led multiple Electoral Observation Missions throughout the Americas.

Moderating the discussion will be Tina Thomson, CEO of Epiphany Leadership Coaching. A Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation, Tina brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across business, education, and philanthropy. She currently serves as Executive Advisor to a Palm Beach–based family office and is a passionate advocate for women, youth, and education.

The Women’s Leadership Council is co-chaired by Susan Kaplan of Fuoco Group & TFG Related Entities, Julia Murphy of Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County, and Lisa Rectenwald of Cartier, whose collective leadership continues to elevate meaningful dialogue and civic engagement within the Palm Beach community. Dana Herst of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital serves as Title Sponsor Chair, reinforcing the Council’s commitment to impactful programming.

This exclusive luncheon will explore leadership on a global stage, examining democracy, governance in the digital age, sustainability, and the responsibility of influence in shaping future generations.

Tables are currently available for purchase, and this event is expected to sell out. A limited number of photo opportunities with President Chinchilla will be available immediately following the luncheon.
